She completed medical school at McGill University and earned her Masters of Health Science at the University of Toronto, where she also specialized in Community Medicine. She received her Fellowship in Preventive Medicine and Public Health from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and holds a Fellowship in Family Medicine. Currently, she serves as a Professor in the Department of Family and Community Medicine at the University of Toronto, educating future healthcare leaders in women’s health and menopause skincare.

As a respected medical authority, Dr. Marla Shapiro was the President of the North American Menopause Society (NAMS) in 2017 and now sits on the Board of Trustees of the International Menopause Society.
