Dr. Michelle Wong, cosmetic chemist, science communicator, and chemistry PhD, is here to help you figure out which beauty products are worth buying and which ones aren’t using science. Based in Sydney, Australia, Dr. Wong founded Lab Muffin in December 2011 after struggling to find easy-to-understand explanations of the science of beauty and how skincare science impacts consumer choices.

She has authored two books: The Lab Muffin Guide to Basic Skincare and The Science of Beauty, offering evidence-based skincare insights. As a trusted expert in cosmetic science, Dr. Wong is passionate about making skincare myths debunked accessible to everyone. She also co-founded BeautySciComm, a social enterprise dedicated to improving the accuracy and reach of skincare industry trends and scientific content.

Dr. Wong has shared her expertise as the co-host of two seasons of the Skincare Podcast, Skincare School with Adore Beauty. Her work extends to educating consumers on safe skincare ingredients, the reality behind clean beauty, the role of parabens and sulfates, and the importance of sunscreen safety in every skincare routine.

She is pro: science, healthy skin, transparency, smart spending, and sun protection. She is anti: fear-mongering, hype, misleading claims, and “detoxing” fads.
